Napoléon III of France lived near Lord Street for a brief period in 1846. Between 1854 and 1870, Paris was reconstructed with new tree-lined boulevards and covered walkways, and it's widely documented that Lord Street was a direct inspiration for the regeneration of the French capital under Napoléon's rule.
