The Sree Dharmasastha Temple is situated at Kuthiranmala by the side of NH544 in between Palakkad and Thrissur (Kerala State). The devotees are mainly travelers, pilgrims and local people. The devotees strongly believe that the blessings of Sree Dharmasastha (Ayyappan) wipe out their mistakes and difficulties especially that of the people travel by Kuthiran Ghats. Instances have reported that the Lord Kuthiran Sasthavu had saved many passengers from accidents, robbers, who happened to travel at late hours. The temple at Kuthiranmala was in existence for the last four centuries.The King of Kochi on his way tried to ride over the top of the Kuthiran Hills several times, but some divine force always obstructed and warned them to refrain from the area. It was later identified that the divine force was that of the Sree Dharmasastha always protected the people. The area was named as the Kuthiranmala in the sense that the horse denied to climb.The temple was reconstructed years back. Sree Dharmasastha mounted on the horse in Idol perhaps the unique one in the Country. The Upadevathas are Sree Ganapathi,Saraswathi, Vishnu, Murugan and Malikapurathamma inside the nalambalam. Lord Siva as swyambhoo , Nagaraja, Nagayakshi, Gosai, Bhuvaneswari, Rakshas outside.On the other side of the road there is Kiratha Moorthikal.The main offerings to Sree Dharmasastha is Annadanam(giving food to devotees). The other offerings are Saneeswarapooja,Ashtadrvya Ganapathi Homam, Maha mrithunjaya homam, Neeranjanam, Neivilakku, Sasthapooja, Neyyabhishekam, Elaneer nivedyam etc. Kettunira for devotees to Sabarimala is also available . Facilities to halt and rest for the pedestrian devotees of Sabarimala during Mandalam- Makaravilakku are aslo available.The annual ulsavam of the temple is Star Rohini of Medam. The ulsavam lasts for 8 days. The main features are thrikkodiyettu, Pallivetta and Aratuu.The temple is managed by Kuthiranmala Sree Dharmasastha trust. The Temple is located on the side of old National Highway (NH544), 25 Km from Thrissur and 45 Km From Palakkad.
