A news cameraman helps save a man's life early New Year's Day after witnessing a fiery crash on the Harbor (110) Freeway in Los Angeles. Just before 3:30 a.m. Austin Raishbrook with RMG News witnessed a dark colored SUV stalled on 110 Freeway near Gage Avenue. Shortly after pulling over to assist, a vehicle struck the SUV from behind, and the vehicle burst into flames with the driver trapped inside. Austin dropped his camera and rushed to pull the driver out of the burning vehicle, only to be initially fought back by flames and smoke. On a second attempt he managed to free the man and drag him away from the car, caring for him until first responders arrived on scene, approx. 5 minutes later. The patient was transported in critical condition to a local hospital, authorities said. Austin suffered minor glass cuts to his hands and singed hair. Additional rescue footage including Austin pulling the man away from the car is available at OnScene.TV.
