Lamarck’s theory states that organisms altered their behavior in response to environmental change. Their changed behavior, in turn, modified their organs, and their offspring inherited those "improved" structures. Lamarck's theory was based on two ideas – adaptive change and the inheritance of traits acquired during an individual's life.
