📚 “Previous research has observed that gamma waves originate from thalamus and will move anteriorly as they are activated to synchronize neuronal activity.

✒️ The first portray of binaural beats goes as far back as 1839, when Heinrich Wilhelm Dove realized the illusive nature of this condition and described its specifics. Binaural beats are an auditory phenomenon that occurs when two tones of different frequencies, which are presented separately to each ear, elicit the sensation of a third tone oscillating at the difference frequency of the two tones (Ingendoh & Heine, 2023).
The human brain has working patterns for different tasks with different rates of frequencies. When a task is in progress, responsible neurons interact each other with electrical currents. As a result of these interactions by large numbers of neurons, neural oscillations are produced. It is possible to view these oscillations with technologies that evolved within the last century such as EEG (electroencephalography) and/or MEG (magnetoencephalography), etc. Through these imageries, scientists have classified the neural oscillations roughly into five patterns. These patterns are named delta waves, theta waves, alpha waves, beta waves and gamma waves, from the lowest frequency rates to the highest respectively.
Another important term 'entrainment' is the interlocking of structures. It is also defined as the adjustment or moderation of one behavior either to synchronize or to be in rhythm with another behavior by Ancona & Chong (1992).
Brainwave entrainment theory suggests that auditory or visual stimulation at a specific frequency will lead the brain’s electrocortical activity to oscillate at the external signal’s frequency or at its multiples (Ingendoh & Heine, 2023). This situation is being associated with the patterns of neural oscillations mentioned above. It is thought to be possible that external binaural beats that are heard by the listener through headphones signals without leaking from one ear to the other may trigger the auditory pathway of the brain to work at a similar manner to the pattern of the external stimulant. Binaural beats audio produced suitable to brain wave patterns may affect the physiological and psychological state of the listener and increase the intensity of conscious attention.
