Combating Micrographia

Dublin Branch wanted to introduce our members to a variety of potential classes to help them live better with Parkinson's Disease.

We began the week of taster sessions with a presentation from Creative Nuerology based in Massachusetts on the potential to improve handwriting affected by micrographia.

Creative Neurology’s mission is to help those living with Parkinson’s live better with symptoms instead of feeling burdened by them. Creative Neurology has two internationally acclaimed programs, Smile Through Art® and Let’s Combat Micrographia®. The Smile Through Art® and Let’s Combat Micrographia® workshops have curriculums that were developed after 8 years of extensive research.

Through creativity, cognition, and movement Creative Neurology’s Smile Through Art® Workshops target specific areas of the Parkinson’s population. Those living with Parkinson’s disease are able to find relief in their symptoms, including a heightened level of mood, through attending our programming. Through the Let’s Combat Micrographia® books and workshop series, improvement in handwriting and hand strength (further improving fine motor skills) is seen in as little as 3-6 weeks, participants see a heightened level of confidence in the writing process and see improvement in other areas of the lives.
