Kotor, Montenegro: Day trip from Budva to visit this charming cruise port

While staying in Budva for 5 weeks we decided one day to take the bus to nearby Kotor to explore. The bus takes about 40 minutes and crosses the mountains. Luckily my motion sickness did not act up. I did take half Dramamine just in case.

The city has a rich history and has had many rulers throughout time, including Romans, Bulgarians, Serbians, Venetians, Yugoslavians and many others.

When we arrived we decided to go do the hike to Kotor Fortress first, before it gets too busy and hot. So up we went! We climbed about 720 ft. and it took a bit over 1hr with a couple of breaks to admire the amazing views of the Old Town and Kotor Bay. Wow! The views! Definitely worth the climb.

We stayed on the top for a bit and headed back down to town to explore a bit and have lunch at Restaurant Scorpio. We had pizza and a couple of refreshing drinks. Delish! Afterwards, more exploring and eventually we headed back to the bus stop to catch our ride back to Budva.

We can see why Kotor is a loved cruise port stop. The geographic area is gorgeous, the old town is charming and well preserved and you can even do a moderate hike and enjoy great views of the bay.

Our next country is France! We will spend a week in Paris! It will be our first visit so we are super excited! :D
