Arts Commons and Olympic Plaza Transformation Flythrough Animation

On April 4, 2024, Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC) unveiled the architectural design for the Arts Commons Transformation (ACT) expansion – a new building featuring a new 1,000-seat theatre and 200-seat studio theatre, and 170,000 SF of new space.

Almost exactly one year later, on April 7, 2025, the designs for the Olympic Plaza Transformation (OPT) were revealed – a $70M revitalization that reimagines the plaza as a more modern, inclusive, accessible and flexible public gathering space for generations to come.

This $660 million transformation of the Arts Commons cultural campus marks the largest arts infrastructure investment currently underway in Canada.
