EP 4 Narkanda, Upper Shimla , Himachal Pradesh: Food & Things to do

On travel to Upper shimla i discovered peace more and more of traditional food and amazing scenic beauty.

In this journey we travelled to Narkanda in Himachal Pradesh, We got opportunity to eat lot of traditional food like Guchhi, Nirmali, Sheera, Paken and much more.

We also travelled to Hatu peak which is at height of 11150 feet above sea level. We went there to see sun rise and to visit Hatu temple.

Following is the day wise tour done by us, this has places to visit and Food at Narkanda, Himachal Pradesh.

1. Bees on move: This was a unique experience we spotted, when we were travelling to Narkanda.

2. Hatu Valley Homestay; This homestay is about 1 km towards village from Narkanda.

3. BanJara Orchard Retreat Thanedar: we visited this place for Apple but season of April starts from Aug and goes upto September but we went there in April month.

4. Hatu valley Homestay : we had dinner at this homestay.

Gucchi - Morchella esculenta: This is a mushroom, This is world’s most expensive vegetable. There is no seed of this mushroom, its grown naturally in forest of Shimla and upper shimla..

Nirmali : This vegetable is also grown naturally in shimla district. I enjoyed the taste of Nirmali.

Day 7:
Sunrise Hatu peak.. It was fun to travel to Hatu peak for sun rise in morning. Hatu peak is 7 km from Narkanda.


If you travel to Hatu peak in jan or Feb you will see snow there..

Hatu Valley homestay breakfast: This breakfast was also traditional in nature I had following 2 things in breakfast.

Day 8

Club Tethys Kufri: This place is near Kufri, i had nice breakfast here, enjoyed Chiltoo more than Malpua.

This was last day of our journey. We visited this village near Kanda ghat to see handicraft items prepared by villager. They offered me food at their home and i enjoyed traditional Himachali food during my tour to their home.

Address - Ghalai village, Mehi panchayat, 3 km from Kanda ghat.
Direction to reach from shimla to kalka - cross kandaghat 3 km then from Janed ghat turn left.

Road to this village is kachha road, steep down, good car health is need to travel on this road, it is long trek if you wish to walk down but i will suggest you not to venture on this trek to village without a guide.
