In this video, a student uses a computer tablet to observe herself as she models transitioning procedures. This practice can be used to teach students skills or behaviors in a variety of domains (e.g., social, communication, behavior, vocational, academic, adaptive). These skills range from functional life skills such as putting on a coat or preparing a meal to interacting and communicating with peers. Video modeling has been demonstrated to be effective for students ages 3–5 and 15–22.
To learn more about this practice and others designed to help students demonstrate preferred skills and behaviors, view the IRIS Module "Autism Spectrum Disorder (Part 2): Evidence-Based Practices."
