In this episode I’m adding a bit more to the bare metal bike. Listening to your comments on the build video, I decided to find some mudguards to fit. Unfortunately they had a slight split in the front mudguard so I needed to repair them and decided to use a link plate from a spare chain to do so. Those mudguards were then cleaned back to bare metal and oiled up so they could be fitted.
(In secret I also fitted that big black bell – it sounds awesome)
The main aim for this episode was to fit the dynamo lights. I know a little bit about soldering and wiring things up but I haven’t worked on any dynamo lights before. The light I’d chosen was meant to be in a circuit with an old battery pack and had 4 wires so I had to figure out which wire did what. After that it was just a case of wiring everything up and hoping I’d got it all the right way round. Fortunately I had but it definitely seems like the hub needs a service and the bulbs need an upgrade. They run but they’re a bit dim... too dim maybe.
Next episode: Hub service, box building and anything else I can think of.
