Filmmaker Iman June Blackwell sits down with Selig's Jenn Rohm to talk about her short doc SHARPS & FLATS. The film had it's world premiere at the Bentonville Film Festival.
About The Film:
In this heartwarming documentary, Iman, a young composer recovering from depression, sets off on a one-woman journey to start a public piano foundation. Facing limited resources and health complications, can she bring her vision to life for the community that saved her?
Filmmaker Bio: Iman June Blackwell is a Malay-American film director, producer, writer, and composer with a mission to use digital media as an agent for environmental justice and the visibility of marginalized communities. She was born and raised in Fayetteville, Arkansas and graduated from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service with a degree in Science, Technology, and International Affairs and Film and Media Studies.
In 2014, she was a regional finalist for the International Youth Silent Film Festival. Since 2020, she has interned at the DC Environmental Film Festival, National Geographic Documentary Series, and FX Networks. Blackwell is based in Los Angeles, where she currently works as a Post-Production Coordinator for 20th Century Studios TV. She also independently directs, writes, and composes for film, social media campaigns, and music videos.
