Mehdi Hasan sits down with candidate Zohran Mamdani to discuss why New York City could elect a Socialist as its next mayor.
“When I went out and spoke to New Yorkers directly, what I found is their major concerns were actually concerns at the heart of a left economic program. They wanted a more affordable life. They wanted to be able to afford their rent, their groceries, their electricity bills," Mamdani tells Mehdi.
He adds, "And what they found in the presidential election was that one candidate, as insincere and ridiculous as we know him to be, was offering a promise for that very cheaper life, offering a return to four years ago, when they remembered having more money in their pocket.”
