Crochet Halloween Hat Pet Series: Devil| Whimsical Crochet Hat for Dogs and Cats

Hello Everyone,

Today we are making this naughty dog/cat crochet Halloween hat. This is to follow my Halloween pet crochet series. This would make a perfect last minute accessory if you didn't buy a costume and also save you some money :)

Like my other videos, I mentioned that there are no downloadable pattern but I will be writing the pattern below here:

Materials
Red Heart Super Saver in color “Cherry”
H/8 5.0 mm and I/9 5.50 mm Crochet Hook
Fiber filling/ or scrap of yarn to stuff the horns (5-10 yds)

Crochet Notes

When you come to the end of Row 38, do not finish off because you will be working around the hat to clean it up and crochet the ear flaps.

Pattern
Begin with a slip knot.
Row 1: Ch 1, 1 sc into the same st, ch-1, turn your work. (1)
Row 2: 2 sc into the same st, ch-1, turn. (2)
Row 3: 1 sc across, ch-1, turn. (2)
Row 4: 2 sc across (4)
Row 5: 1 sc across, ch-1, turn. (4)
Row 6: 2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in last st. Ch-1, turn. (6)
Row 7: 1 sc across, ch-1, turn. (6)
Row 8: 2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in last st. Ch-1, turn. (8)
Row 9:1 sc across, ch-1, turn. (8)
Row 10: 2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 6 sts, 2 sc in last st. Ch-1, turn. (10)
Row 11: 1 sc across, ch-1, turn. (10)
Row 12 (ear holes-right side facing): chain up 10, sl st to the last st, ch-1, turn. (10)
Row 13 (chain bridge *wrong side facing*) 1 sc across, ch-1, turn (10)
Row 14-26: 1 sc across, ch-1, turn. (10)
Row 27: chain up 10, sl st to the last st, ch-1, turn. (10)
Row 28-29: 1 sc across, ch-1, turn. (10)
Row 30: sc2tog, 1 sc in next 6 sts, sc2tog, ch-1, turn. (8)
Row 31: 1 sc across, ch-1, turn. (8)
Row 32: sc2tog, 1 sc in next 4 sts, sc2tog, ch-1, turn. (6)
Row 33: 1 sc across, ch-1, turn. (6)
Row 34: sc2tog, 1 sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog, ch-1, turn. (4)
Row 35: 1 sc across, ch-1, turn (4)
Row 36: sc2tog (x2), ch-1, turn (2)
Row 37: 1 sc across, ch-1, turn (2)
Row 38: sc2tog, ch-1, turn. (1)
Row 39: sc, ch-1, turn (1).

*Do NOT finish off your work when you come to the end*, Sc in the same st, and sc around the hat until you get back to the row 1 at the beginning. When you get to that corner, chain 41, sl st into the 2nd ch from the hook, and sl st in every stitch back down (40) sts. Sc in the first available st, and sc all the way back to row 38 where we ended, chain 41, sl st into the 2nd ch from the hook, and sl st in every stitch back down again (40) sts. Finish off.

Horns for the Hat
(Make 2) Using gray, and a I/95.50 MM Hook
Round 1: Magic Ring, Ch-1. 4 sc into magic ring, pull tight. Join to first sc. (4)
Round 2: Ch-1, sc in every st around, sl st to join at the end to first st. (4)
Round 3: Ch-1, 2 sc into same st. 1 sc in next st. 2 sc, 1 sc in next st rep around. Sl st to first st. (6)
Round 4: Ch-1, 1 sc in every st around. Sl st to first st. (6)
Round 5: Ch-1, 2 sc in first st, sc in next st. 2 sc, 1 sc in next st* Rep around. Sl st to first st. (9)
Round 6: Ch-1, 1 sc in every stitch around. Sl st to first st. (9)
Round 7: Ch-2 (doesn’t count as a stitch), Hdc in first 2 sts, 1 sc in next 3 sts, 1 hdc in next 2 sts, 1 dc in next 2 sts. sl st to first hdc st (9 sc/hdc/dc) Make (2) and leave long tail for sewing onto the hat.
