Ragusa:
Explore the stunning baroque architecture and winding streets of Ragusa, one of the jewels of Sicily. This walking tour takes you through the heart of Ragusa Ibla, the historic district, offering a glimpse into the city’s rich history and breathtaking views.

We begin with a drone intro, offering sweeping views of the city, followed by a stroll along the Percoso delle Scale, a historic pathway connecting upper and lower Ragusa. Our first stop is the Santa Maria delle Scale, a beautiful church offering panoramic views of the town. As we continue, we pass the Palazzo dell'ex Cancelleria and the striking Chiesa Anime del Purgatorio, both examples of Ragusa’s iconic baroque style.

Wandering through the charming streets, we explore Via del Mercato, Via XI Febbraio, and Via Tenente di Stefano before making our way to the grand Piazza Duomo. Here, the magnificent Duomo di San Giorgio, an architectural masterpiece, dominates the square. We take a moment to appreciate the beauty of Palazzo Battaglia and the Circolo di Conversazione, important cultural landmarks of the city.

The tour continues along Corso XXV Aprile to the Church of Saint Joseph before we arrive at the serene Giardino Ibleo, a tranquil garden offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Our walk concludes with visits to the Chiesa di San Vincenzo Ferreri and the historic Portale di San Giorgio, a remnant of a 14th-century church.

History:
Ragusa, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is renowned for its baroque architecture, much of which was rebuilt after a devastating earthquake in 1693. The Duomo di San Giorgio, designed by architect Rosario Gagliardi, is one of the finest examples of Sicilian baroque style.

Tips:

The Giardino Ibleo is perfect for a peaceful break while enjoying the scenic views.
Wear comfortable shoes, as the streets are steep and cobblestone.
Visit Duomo di San Giorgio in the late afternoon to see it illuminated by the setting sun.
