My First River Competition… Here’s What Happened [Road To Worlds]

My Road to the Fly Fishing World Championships continues… and this week I fished my very first SCOTTISH NATIONAL FLY FISHING LEAGUE (SNFFL) river competition. After weeks of practice and hours at the vice tying confidence flies, I finally got the chance to test myself in a proper competition setting.

The result? I qualified for Division 1 next season – a huge step on my journey to improve as a river angler and hopefully one day reach the World stage.

In this video I’ll take you through the day, share some highlights from the fishing, and explain exactly how river competitions work under FIPS-Mouche rules – from beats, controllers, and scoring, to how every fish is measured and recorded.
