Skiwelt 2022_23 - Hohe Salve Descent, Red 40.

From top of Hohe Salve there are a number of runs starting from the North side (Soll side) of the restaurant building. Although it's quite narrow as you pass the building it soon opens up. Keeeping right would be the Black 42 run, however we head over to the left direction at 00:35 where it's signed Red 21, 22, 30, 31 and 40. Quite a busy section this with the runs heading down to Hopfgarten as well as the piste options to Itter and Soll. The top section is labelled with the multiple run numbers for quite a bit and it's possible to follow any of the offshoots while still mainly able to reach any run although if you head to far to the right you lose a lot of height and can't then regain the pistes for Hopfgarten.
At 3:20 we pass below the top station of the Kasbichl and Hohe Salve chair lifts, although even so we would still have options at 3:50 to head off to Hopfgarten instead of our chosen route towards Itter and Soll (4:00). The first part here is a bit lumpy and steep before it flattens out as we pass the Rigibahn chair. From here the run is labelled as Red 30, 31 and 40 with 30 eventually ending at Itter, 31 at the Kasbichl chair and 40 is our route to Hexenwasser, however all are the same for now.
At 6:00 we reach the midpoint of the new Salvistabahn gondola and this is where the runs diverge. Keeping left as you pass the mid-station at 6:10 would keep you on the Red 30 to Itter, whereas the right hand direction is the Red 31 and Red 40.
Again the first part of this is a bit steep, lumpy and quite heavily used. The Red 31 heads off to the right at 6:40 but we carry straight ahead where after another short steep section it flattens out again. Eventually at 7:40 it opens out above the lower Hexenwasser area. At this point there's usually a timed, skiercross track set up, however the lack of snow has stopped that for now. The run here is pretty busy and becomes even busier lower down where the Blue 46 from the Rinner chair joins us at 8:20. Quite tricky this section for beginners.
Passing under the Hexen6er chair I finish at the Hans im Gluck gondola.
