Robert Bonavito, NJ forensic accountant, discusses non-financial outcomes and the case information statement.
The finances within a divorce and how they relate to child support, alimony, business valuations and investment are all extremely complex and important. However, there are other factors attorneys deal with including child custody, physical abuse in the household, and psychological issues. These may require a psychologist and/or job specialist to evaluate the partner’s employability and/or psychological issues.
The case information statement (CIS) is very critical in divorce engagements. Make sure to utilize Quicken/QuickBooks to compile information, use the CIS as a financial statement for the family and ensure the balance sheet, income statement and cashflow statement all balance.
