Golion (or Voltron), the super robot formed by
combining five giant powerful mecha lions!

Beast King GoLion is a Japanese super robot anime that aired from 1981-1982. The series follows five space explorers who escape to Earth after their home planet is destroyed by the evil Galra Empire.

On Earth, the explorers discover five robotic lions that combine to form the giant super robot GoLion, which they use to fight back against the Galra.

the American series Voltron: Defender of the Universe, which adapted the GoLion footage with new dialogue and names. Notable for being an early example of a "lion bot" concept before it became widespread, Beast King GoLion has seen renewed interest in recent years after getting an English DVD release in 2008. The series has also spawned manga and video game adaptations over the years.
