KSP - Soyuz 4/5

This video depicts aspects of the combined missions of Soyuz 4 and 5, using Kerbal Space Program and a number of mods, including Tantares, Scatterer, Chatterer, PlanetShine, and others.

The Soyuz spacecraft was first flown in April 1967 but was marred by the tragic death of its sole cosmonaut, Vladimir Komarov, when the capsule's parachute didn't properly open. Nevertheless, it continued the use of various Soyuz models until the present day. The Soyuz 2 and 3 mission was to dock a manned spacecraft with an unmanned one, but this ultimately failed.

The Soyuz 4 and 5's combined mission was the first docking between two manned spacecraft and the first transfer of crew between two manned spacecraft. It would be repeated by the Americans with Apollo 19 some months later.

Note: There are three variants of the Soyuz 7K-OK with the three different docking configurations. The Soyuz 4/5 mission used an active and passive "probe and drogue" mechanism.
