On the 28th of November 2018 at 2 pm Professor Russell Barkley gave the eighth Birgit Olsson lecture entitled “The Second Attention Disorder: Sluggish Cognitive Tempo vs. ADHD at the Wallenberg Conference Hall, Gothenburg.

Russell Barkley, who is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Virginia Treatment Center for Children and the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond, US, is a word leading expert in ADHD and related disorders. Professor Russell Barkley is one of the most cited researchers in the field of ADHD and has published more than 200 scientific papers and book chapters related to the nature, assessment, and treatment of ADHD and related disorder. He has appeared on many US nationally televised programs to discuss topics pertaining to ADHD and he has received numerous awards over his career for his work in ADHD and the field of psychology including the Distinguished Contribution Award from the American Association of Applied and Preventive Psychology (1994), the C. Anderson Aldrich Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics (1996), the Award for Distinguished Contribution to Research from the Section on Clinical Child Psychology of the American Psychological Association (1998), the Dissemination Award from the Society for a Science of Clinical Psychology (2002), American Board of Professional Psychology (2004), and the Distinguished Career Award from the Division of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology of the American Psychological Association (2012).
