How to convert a 118GB MAME ROM set down to 11.4GB removing clones, duplicates and (hacks prototypes or mechanical, quiz, fruit machines, Mahjong, etc) unplayable games using LauchBox.
What you'll end up with is a really great, small set of just the best MAME games. It's obviously not one for the completionist, the MAME archivists out there but is a good way to get a really fun and playable set of MAME games.
The benefits of doing this speak for themselves as it will take a 118GB set with over 36,500 files - and you'll come away with an 11.4GB set with just over 2,900 files. That's a massive reduction and not a lot lost from a casual game player's perspective.

A non-merged MAME set
LaunchBox
A version of MAME that matches your Non-Merged Mame ROM set
I personally find this method a lot easier than the various ROM managers and DAT files out there, although they clearly have their place - I just want something that cuts away most of the waste and gets me straight into the good games.
