In this video I will be showing you start to finish how to do a Porsche Brembo 17z Big brake swap on your mk4 Jetta or golf FRONT ONLY *may be applicable to some mk5*. I also show where and how to get ALL the necessary parts, how to properly clean, refinish, and rebuild the calipers, and finally how to properly fit them onto your VW. If you don't want to watch the whole video here is a short breakdown of everything you'll need and a step by step in writing of how to do this swap. If you have any questions drop a comment or dm me on instagram @miner_garage and I'll respond asap. Let me know what you want to see me do next on my mk4 tdi wag
Not sponsored by anyone and I believe these parts are genuinely the best ones I could find and recommend the most!
Formula to Calculate what size spacers you need:
Spacer width = 18 - (35 - wheel offset)

Caliper Paint or Get them Powder coated BEFORE you rebuild
Step By Step how to:
1. Remove original caliper, rotor, and brake line
2. install 17z adapter bracket with red Loctite
3. angle grind off excess threads off of original caliper bracket bolts with them fully installed and torqued. make sure it is flush or shorter than the wheel speed sensor hub
4. clean wheel bearing mating surface and apply anti-seize
5. Install Stainless brake line to original hardline mounted on the wheel well.
6. Install 17z brake caliper with red Loctite and torque bolts
7. attach new brake line to the back of the caliper and tighten it down. make sure to not over tighten or round these off. Just snug them
8. clean off new rotor with brake clean and install it with set screw if you still have it.
9. grease new brake pads on the back side and edges everywhere it makes contact with anything to avoid squealing.
10. install brake pads and tighten bracket
11. splice the old brake wear sensor wires together to avoid getting a light and tuck it up somewhere safe.
12. bleed calipers from outside passenger side to inwards and make a few rounds until the fluid is completely bubble free.
13. install spacers and torque wheels
14. bead in brakes by doing 4-5 hard stops 60mph-10mph making sure not to lock up the brakes but braking very hard. this ensures the brakes are evenly broken in.
15. for the first few hundred miles there will be a ton of excess brake dust so just note that, but after that it gives next to none!
