This is the first episode of a new series about fashion design in Bali. Many know Bali as a destination for beaches, spiritual reawakening and Instagramable vistas, however the island also harbors an array of talented artisans.
I have been making clothes in Bali almost since I arrived three years ago and work particularly with one talented tailor, Ayu, in Canggu. She has made nearly everything in my wardrobe.
In this episode, we explore silks as I was noticing men's silk pants becoming a trend in fashion with designers like Tom Ford and Casablanca all producing their take on the laid-back loungewear style.
I take you along to Jalan Sulawesi, a main fabric shopping area in Denpasar to search for fabric, then show you how I work with my tailor and finally reveal the finished outfit at the end of the video.
