A review of the Zebra Vitalux 34cm Stainless Steel Wok. This video is about the journey to owning a stainless steel wok. There are generally 3 types of woks available, the first being a non-stick coated wok. You can start using these woks straight away as they already come with a non stick coating. The non stick coating is made of PTFE or it's derivatives. Non stick coated woks can become damaged over time as the non stick coating will chip off and there are alleged harmful effects from these chemicals.
The second type of wok is made of carbon steel, but these work best with gas cookers and require seasoning before use. The third type is stainless steel woks and these require no seasoning and work well with electric cookers (stoves).
Information on the Zebra company's website claims that the wok is durable and designed to last for over 50 years, so perhaps it is a Buy It for Life (BIFL) product.
