We're now at day 7 of having duck eggs in the incubator and I'm so excited to have a look at them!
"Candling" was originally done with a candle hence the name. Today we're shining an iphone light under the egg to see a bit of what's happening inside.
At day 7 if the egg is developing you should be able to see a spider web of veins, and an embryo. There's a beating heart and an eye too so we'll see what we can see. We'll see how many of the eggs have started developing - I'm hoping for 5 ducklings out of 8 eggs so we'll see!

⭐️ What equipment do you need to incubate duck eggs?
We borrowed this incubator from a friend and bought the extra thermometer and humidity meter because I wanted to be as sure as possible about the accuracy of our process. Once the ducklings hatch you’ll them need a heat lamp and separate space for them, and then water and duckling food (different from chick crumb!)
