Raag Bihag is a very popular and melodious raga of Indian classical music which is sung and played in the second quarter of the night . This is a raga of Bilaval Thaat, whose jati is Audav-sampoorna. The biggest speciality of this Raga is the use of both the Madhyams - Shuddha Madhyam (Ma) and Sharp Madhyam (Ma'), in which Komal Madhyam (Ma) is prominent and Sharp Madhyam (Ma') is used in special phrases like 'Pa Ma Pa Dha Ga Ma Ga'.

Caste: Audava-sampoorn (5 notes in ascent, 7 notes in descent)
Vocal: All the swaras sound pure, but sharp madhyam (म') is used

Conversational tone: Nishad (N)
Nyas vowels: Nyasa is done on Nishad (Ni), Nyasa is also done on Pancham (Pa).

Mounts: Nee Saang Ma Paani Saan (Re and Dha are prohibited in this)
Descending: Sa Ni Dha Pa Ma' Ga Ma Ga Re Sa (all notes are played)
