2024 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S review in Malaysia - The Apex Predator (C63 Dethroned…)

With all the others getting bigger, heavier, the CLA 45 S is possibly the best AMG saloon car out there right now (technically they call it a 4-door coupe but whatever), remaining driver-focused, ferocious and unrelenting with a few twists of its drive mode switch. And even better, it’s one of the least expensive from the Affalterbach stable, discounting the not-quite-legit '35 series'.

This is in stark contrast to the new C63, which now weighs over 2 tonnes, costs more than double here, and features the same 2.0-litre heavily turbocharged engine as this top dog CLA, albeit assisted with electric motors and a lithium battery, hence extra power but also the significant weight penalty.

So, if you want an enthusiast AMG with four-doors? You'll get more for less with the CLA 45 S. Interesting strategy from the Germans.
