Our first port visit on our 15 day transatlantic adventure was unstructured

Our Travel Vlog highlights our experiences as budget travelers who retired to a fully nomadic lifestyle. As both senior nomads and budget travelers, we created this travel vlog to share our experience with fellow senior nomads, other budget travelers or the 'nomad curious' who may just be interested in learning more about this lifestyle.

In keeping with our budget travel theme, we didn't book any excursions on our port days. The logic was mulit-layered; partly because spending $200 and up to be entertained for half a day is a mental challenge for us and partly because one of the primary things we want to know about these various places is "Do we want to come back and spend more time here?"

Funchal? Absolutely we want to come spend a month or more exploring the city and surrounding area. We felt that pretty early in the walk.

While the cable car ride and the botanic garden at Monte Palace are certainly things were interested in, we didn't feel like they were critical to check off on our first visit. We'll be back on a future cruise even if we don't come back for a stay
