Gordon Russell (the Feelgoods' fine guitarist) took a month's personal time and the chaps kindly asked me to fill in. The Hamsters had not long been together, so it wasn't going to affect our schedule much as we were only doing the occasional gig back then (we made up for it later though!) This was one of the early shows on the run, so there are plenty of bum notes'n'balls-ups from me; but, as Lee would say afterwards: "There was plenny of sweat an' snot flyin' about the stage tonight!", so that's really all that mattered... and the massed ranks of plastered Europunters fortunately seemed to dig it too, Gawdblessem.

P.S. I absolutely loved the privilege of playing alongside Lee, but he was a bugger... you'd peak your solo and blow your biscuits... then he'd go: DO IT AGAINNNN! DO IT AGAINNNN! I’d be like: ‘What the bloody hell do I do NOW?!’
