2025 Geely Galaxy M9 in-depth Walkaround

The Geely Galaxy M9, a full-size plug-in hybrid SUV, has been spotted at dealerships in China ahead of its official launch. Designed as a large family vehicle, it comes equipped with an advanced all-wheel-drive system delivering an impressive 520 kW (697 hp). With a starting price of 250,000 yuan (34,650 USD), the Galaxy M9 is set to debut in the Chinese domestic market before making its way to overseas regions, including Europe. Measuring 5205 mm in length, 1999 mm in width, and 1800 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3030 mm, the SUV is just 4 mm shorter than the Mercedes-Benz GLS. Geely also highlights its class-leading cabin space utilization rate of 88.3%.

Under the hood, the Galaxy M9 is powered by the EM-P plug-in hybrid system, which combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 120 kW (161 hp) with three electric motors. The front motor generates 180 kW (241 hp), while the two rear motors deliver 170 kW (228 hp) each, resulting in a combined system output of 520 kW (697 hp). This setup allows the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, offering sports-car-like performance in a large luxury vehicle.

Buyers will have a choice between two battery configurations: an 18.4 kWh pack capable of delivering 85 km of electric range, and a larger 41.5 kWh pack with up to 185 km of range. Even with a depleted battery, the Galaxy M9 maintains a fuel consumption rate of just 4.8 liters per 100 km. To enhance ride comfort and handling, it is equipped with dual-chamber air suspension paired with a continuous damping control system (CDC). Positioned as a more affordable alternative to models like the Lynk & Co 900 and Zeekr 9X, the M9 plays a key role in Geely’s strategy to cover a broad market segment, spanning 250,000 to 1,000,000 yuan (34,650 – 139,400 USD) across its lineup of full-size crossovers.
