This special drawing was brought to me with damage produced by poor storage conditions given to an enclosed plastic holding the drawing on a board. The humidity and the poor conditions of climate produced mold colonies that were mainly treated and rinsed for less visual observation. Sun light was also part of the process considering in the humidity level of no higher than 50% for treatment and storage while art was in conservator's studio.
I am truly happy to share this process and not having enough information online for viewers to understand how their work is been treated while in conservation. Following the cleaning and drying process I recommended to have it professionally framed with pulp free, acid free and lignin free materials, and a minimum of 70% UV and 1% reflective glass. Non glare glass is not recommended for original fine art pieces.
The solution used for this particular cleaning process is made of (Tosylchloramide Sodium Salt) (C7H7CINO2S), is a N-chlorinated and N-deprotonated sulfonamide. The rinsing solution is different taking in consideration there is a suction table for this process.
Some art paper conservators submerge prints, drawings and etchings in other solutions. This is not a submerging technique.
