The Yanomami are one of the largest Indigenous peoples of the Amazon, living between Brazil and Venezuela. Their survival is threatened by illegal mining, mercury contamination, disease, and deforestation. Protecting Yanomami land means protecting the forest, biodiversity, and the future of our planet. Their voices must be heard and their territory respected.
The appropriation of land, environmental pollution, corruption, and other legal and illegal crimes cause profound harm to the region and its people.
Unfortunately, in the countries where these raw materials are most used and purchased, there is little reporting, and few people are aware of the consequences of their consumption.
The forest—on which not only animals and local communities depend, but also the global climate—is being destroyed, polluted, and exploited without restraint. This cruelty results in immense suffering, injustice, environmental crime, and loss of life.
The population of the Pan-Amazonian region needs to be heard.
The guardians of the rainforest speak, the rainforest raised them, now they watch it bleed. They had to live through the deconstruction, the violence, the loss of culture and land - yet they continue to defend the amazon so the world can breathe. This can no longer be met with silence.
This is not a tragedy — it's an attack. Defend the amazon, defend its people.
