We are delighted to reveal the mentees selected for the prestigious Emerging Translator Mentorships Programme 2025/2026 on International Translation Day.
Every year the programme supports the development of a new cohort of literary translators into English, particularly for languages whose literature is currently under-represented in English translation. Now in its fourteenth year, the scheme was founded by writer, editor and translator Daniel Hahn and is organised by the NCW. It has so far supported 140 translators in more than 37 languages.
Each mentee will be matched up with an experienced translator for a six-month period during which they work together on practical translation projects, developing their craft through working on a chosen text or texts.
The Emerging Translator Mentorships Programme is supported by Arts Council England, Charles Wallace India Trust, FarLit, Flanders Literature, the Literary Translation Institute of Korea, Lithuanian Culture Institute, the Polish Cultural Institute, the Royal Norwegian Embassy in London, SALT, the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, and the Society of Authors.
