Using Public Transport in Grand Cayman

I made a comment regarding the Cayman Public transport system being almost non existent in a previous video that got a few comments and messages asking for more information. So I thought I'd film myself using the public transport system in Grand Cayman for a day. The public transport system consists of a few buses traveling down some specific routes with no real schedule and very few bus stops outside of the main tourist areas.

This isn't the first time I've relied on public transport, I didn't have a car for over a week at one stage and had to rely on lifts and buses to get everywhere. So trust me when I say, unless you purposefully live and work near bus stops or on bus routes, relying on public transport is not as easy as in the states or Europe. You may have to walk long distances in the Caribbean humidity or through down pours with poor road drainage. Buses don't run on Sundays so expect to bum rides or walk wherever you need to go. It's definitely possible to survive and some people do, although you will spend a significant amount of time commuting compared to a few minutes in your own car. An improvement in this system with some full size buses could transform our congested roads on this island, so I hope there will be some positive change soon. Until then, if you can afford it a car is still your best option in the Cayman Islands.
