In this video, I walk through the process of replacing the shaft seal on my 1990 Kawasaki 650sx stand-up Jet Ski. If your ski is taking on water around the driveline or you’re seeing signs of a failing seal, this guide will help you fix it and get back on the water. This took around two days after getting all the parts in. Remember, if its already broken, you cant break it!
This is a common maintenance issue on older stand-ups like the 650sx, but with the right tools and a little time, it’s something you can do yourself.
Whether you’re restoring a vintage Jet Ski or troubleshooting a water leak near the driveshaft, this video has you covered.
✅ What I cover:
• How to access the driveline
• Removing the old shaft seal
• Installing a new shaft seal properly
• Tips for aligning and sealing everything to prevent leaks
🛠 Tools & parts used:
• Replacement shaft seal
• Marine-grade grease
• Standard socket set and screwdrivers
⚠️ Note: Always double-check alignment after reinstalling the driveshaft. A misaligned shaft can wear seals quickly or cause vibration.
