Modern Granny Square in Twisted Raffia.
In this tutorial I show you how to crochet a front post granny square in twisted raffia step by step.
This technique is perfect for bags, pouches and accessories.

A beautifully textured 3D Post Stitch Granny Square created with front post treble crochet stitches for an embossed, eye-catching design.

Stitches used:
DC – Double Crochet
FPTC – Front Post Triple Crochet
CH – Chain
SL ST – Slip Stitch

Only at the beginning of each round, the corner starts with:
Ch2 + FPTC + DC
All other corners follow this sequence:
DC + FPTC + DC + Ch2 + DC + FPTC + DC
On the sides:
DC + FPTC + DC
Close each round with: 1 SL ST + 2 additional SL ST to move into the corner where the next round begins.

Let's begin!
Start with a magic circle.
Round 1: Then ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2. Close the round with a slip stitch. Make two more slip stitches to reach the corner.

Round 2
Start corner: Ch2 + FPTC + DC + Ch2 + DC + FPTC + DC.
Other 3 corners: DC + FPTC + DC + Ch2 + DC + FPTC + DC.
Join with 1 sl st + 2 sl st.

Round 3
Start corner: Ch2 + FPTC + DC + Ch2 + DC + FPTC + DC.
Side: DC + FPTC + DC.
Next corners: DC + FPTC + DC + Ch2 + DC + FPTC + DC.
Repeat around.
Join with 1 sl st + 2 sl st.

Round 4
Start corner: Ch2 + FPTC + DC + Ch2 + DC + FPTC + DC.
Side ×2: DC + FPTC + DC.
Next corner: DC + FPTC + DC + Ch2 + DC + FPTC + DC.
Side ×2.
Repeat sequence 2 more times.
Join with 1 sl st + 2 sl st.

Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Your square should measure 7 cm.

With just 15 granny squares, you can make a modern and stylish clutch.
Or, if you continue the square for 16 rounds, you can create the front and back of a modern bag, measuring 21 × 21 cm.
