Climb Buck Rock fire lookout in the Sierra Nevadas. See gorgeous views of the Sierras, and you might even get to test your hand at spotting fires. Support forest conservation and education by bringing cash to purchase from the Buck Rock Foundation gift shop.
To reach Buck Rock you will drive to Horse Camp campground, and turn left onto FS 1304, a rocky narrow dirt road. Follow the signs to Buck Rock, another 2.5 mile single lane dirt road.
Buck Rock is open to the public from 10:30 to 5:00 during fire season. A sign below the lookout informs visitors if the tower is open. And remember the lookout is used as an office and residence for the firewatcher on duty!
