Throughout their wanderings, the two friends explain the then revolutionary principles developed between 1853 and 1870 by the architects of Napoleon III and implemented by the teams of the prefect of the Seine, Baron Haussmann. A fascinating guided tour, which lifts the veil on a colossal undertaking.

💡 The Opera district under construction: Discover what the titanic Opera construction site looked like during the work carried out by Baron Haussmann between 1853 and 1870. Paris will be profoundly transformed, nearly 20,000 buildings will be demolished, built 30,000, we doubled the surface area of the capital, we went from 12 to 20 districts…
💡 Opening of the facade of a Haussmannian building: The work leads to significant expropriations and gives birth to a new type of housing: the Haussmannian building. The architecture of these buildings was very codified, as were the rules of life inside.
💡 The Omnibus Palace: It was between the Eiffel Tower and the military school, in the 7th arrondissement of Paris that Napoleon III chose to build the gigantic Palace which hosted the Universal Exhibition of 1867. A palace of disproportionate proportions , living up to the emperor's ambitions.
💡The Avenue des Champs Élysées in the 17th century: With Napoleon III and Haussmann, the most beautiful avenue in the world took off, the district was going to be transformed from top to bottom to gradually become the cradle of luxury, mansions and parties sumptuous.
💡 Les Halles Baltard: It was in the Les Halles district that Napoleon III decided to build a legendary building, a masterpiece that has now disappeared, which many French people still remember with nostalgia: Les Halles Baltard.
