Ed Heck Paints Cookie as Big Foot (BELIEVE)

Kim Carter (aka: Kimmy Schwimmy) films and talks with Ed Heck as he paints Cookie Monster as a Yeti. The iconic photo from a video taken of a Yeti sighting is what inspired Ed to create Cookie in this same pose with the word 'BELIEVE' written above.

Ed likes the idea of not only believing in cool things like Yeti's and aliens - but the idea of simply believing in yourself. You know, the way Cookie does : )

This video is shot on the fly with no script and so, it's fun to see how Ed and Kimmy get along and find things to talk about. One of those ‘things’ is Ed's history with a very special museum on 79th Street in New York City.

About two years before this day of painting Cookie as a Yeti, they visited this very place - The American Museum of Natural History.

You see, Ed Heck worked at this museum for 18 years as a scientific illustrator, and so, still has access to all the fun, behind the scene places in the museum. He took Kimmy up to see dinosaur specimens in the back of house(she was not allowed to film those areas) - and after this, they went to the public areas to film and talk dinosaurs and see some of his own work displayed. He even did a 'talk' for some kids on a school trip!

Also included in this video is the day Ed and Kim came upon Dinosaur Sue at Disney World. She is a replica of, at the time, the largest complete skeleton found of a T-Rex dinosaur. Ed was hired to design the pose and Phil Frehley's company made the mount.

It's fun and fascinating to learn about Ed Heck and his beginnings as an artist and special interests in so many things that have brought him to now - where he is creating a show inspired by another artist, Jim Henson.

This particular painting embodies Ed's love for the Yeti with one of his favorite muppets created by Henson along with an underlying theme to never stop believing in yourself and in life....the journey will always twist and turn and it becomes the most interesting and fun when you are following your heart and passion along the way ….
