2020 Audi S4 Avant – Design, Interior and Driving

Seemingly out of nowhere, Audi switched its focus back to diesel engines with several models powered by the same new 3.0 TDI. The 2020 S4 Avant is probably our favorite out of them all, and it almost feels like the car S4 buyers wanted all along.

With the S6 and S7, the 3.0 TDI is like a major downgrade, offering less power than the old V8 models. However, the S4 just gets something more advanced with a lot of extra torque while losing less than 10 horsepower.Sure, the weight is a little higher and so are the prices, but that can be said about many new cars these days.

The S4 Avant was always a GT style of car, capable of high speed, but never as rushed or high-strung. If you want a go-fast wagon, just get the E63 AMG or the RS6. And you know what else goes well with a GT? Endless torque and good fuel economy.

At 700 Nm, this TDI V6 has as much of the stuff as the soon-to-be-replaced RS6. At the same time, fuel economy is about half: 6.3 l/100km combined. It's probably better than any gas-powered hot hatch in the world. We almost forgot to mention that besides the usual turbochargers, this hybrid TDI also has an electric turbocharger boosting low-end torque.

Now, during the launch event organized in Italy, YouTuber Automann-TV managed to test the performance of the car and got 0 to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds.
