Shirly Pinto's message and need your support!

To support Deaf Israeli Citizens living in Israel, the Jewish Deaf Congress (JDC)'s program director, Sofia Seitchik, reached out to Shirly Pinot, a former Deaf Israeli Member of Knesset.

On Saturday, Oct. 7th, 2023, which was originally planned as a celebration of the Jewish holiday, Simchat Torah turned into an attack by Hamas, a terrorist organization with the objective of killing the Jews. Shirly shared her family's experiences and how they coped with the closing of schools and life changes, forcing them to stay home for safety.

Shirly stated, "Deaf people in Israel are in danger and need the following devices to ensure they have communication access to the alerts in their respective cities. Three devices are portable chargers for the cellphones to be fully charged so they can receive alerts; due to darkness and being in shelter/bunkers without electricity turned on, flashlights are needed and batteries for these devices."
