After finally pulling a perfect carbon fiber part from the mold, I had to face the brutal next step: removing the original plug from the helicopter. Let's just say it didn’t go quietly—and taking a hammer to something I spent weeks perfecting nearly broke me.
Then came the real gamble: separating the carbon cowling from the integrated flange, which I may or may not have used Kevlar to “help” with. Spoiler: it didn’t fray like I expected… but it made a great depth gauge.
In the end, I got the cowling split, laid out the 1/4-turn fasteners, and got everything mounted back to the helicopter—and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.
