An explosion of second-period offence helped book Edge School’s ticket to the U15 Western Championships Final, with their 20 second-period shots on goal ultimately providing them with five goals, enough to see them over Delta Hockey Academy Black. Cash Field scored the first period’s only goal for Delta Black with under two minutes to go, giving his team a 1-0 lead, but once they returned from the intermission, everything had changed. Brody Antignani (2G, 1A) cashed in with the equalizer in the second period’s first minute, and from there, it felt like Edge School couldn’t do anything wrong in the offensive zone. Luke Bodtker (1G, 2A), Charlie Usher (1G, 1A), Jackson Saskiw, and Kyden Bartole (1G, 1A) added second-period goals to give Edge a 5-1 lead through two, a lead that appeared to be safe in Edge School’s hands. That, however, wasn’t the case, and within 2:10 of the third period, the four-goal advantage was suddenly one, thanks to three quick Delta Black goals flipping the game on its head. Down 5-4, Delta Black continued their pressure, but a penalty six and a half minutes into the third ended up massively significant. On the powerplay, Edge School regained their two-goal lead, with Tyler O’Gorman finding the back of the net on the man advantage. At 6-4, Antignani would add another, with Edge ultimately prevailing 8-4 to book their ticket to the final.
