Here is the descent of White Mountain Peak which is the highest vehicle accessible road in the whole US. It is higher than Pike’s Peak, and while not open to the public for vehicle access, it is a fantastic mountain bike ride. Beside two small quarter-mile sections of uphill, this video has footage from the whole 7 mile descent from the summit to the car.
I noticed other trip reports and videos seemed to think mountain biking wasn’t completely worth it, but as a relatively competent mountain biker and an amateur mountaineer, I thought a bike was a fantastic way to smash and grab this mountain. It made it way funner and only took about 5 hours car to car with some long breaks in there. Obviously it requires some walking on the way up, but all the downhill and flat sections were fun riding on the way down. I would recommend having a solid mountain bike and being comfortable riding fast over loose rocks.
