🎬 AIMER Video 11: Encourage – Supporting Change, Confidence & Reconnection
Welcome back to the AIMER Video Series.
In this session, we move into the fourth step of the AIMER framework: Encourage — a phase focused on supporting clients to challenge unhelpful coping patterns, build confidence, and take meaningful steps toward reconnection.
Encourage is about being a catalyst for change. It’s where we help clients move beyond “just coping” with hearing loss, and support them to align their behaviours with what truly matters to them.

• How the counselling micro-skill of confrontation can be used gently and respectfully to spark insight and self-directed change
• When and how to use confrontation safely — grounded in trust, empathy, and curiosity
• Practical examples of Encourage in action, including self-advocacy, reframing stigma, and confident communication
• How social coaching helps clients rebuild confidence and re-enter valued social spaces
• Ways to support clients to set small, meaningful social goals and practise real-world communication skills
• Why Encourage isn’t about pressure — but about empowerment, hope, and possibility

Through real clinical examples, this video shows how small moments in the clinic can lead to powerful ripple effects — improving connection within families, workplaces, and communities.

Encourage helps clients move from awareness to action — supporting them not just to hear better, but to live better.
