Frisco, Utah is a fascinating ghost town with a rich and sometimes violent history tied to mining in the American West. Located in Beaver County, in southwestern Utah, Frisco sprang to life in the late 19th century thanks to a silver mining boom and was once one of the wildest and most productive mining towns in the state.

Frisco was established in 1875 after the discovery of rich silver deposits in the San Francisco Mountains. It quickly became a bustling mining town centered around the Horn Silver Mine, one of the most productive silver mines in the U.S. during its time. Frisco grew rapidly, attracting miners, entrepreneurs, and others looking to profit from the silver rush.

At its peak, the town had a reputation for lawlessness, vice, and violence, earning it the nickname "the wildest town in the Great Basin." With dozens of saloons, brothels, and little law enforcement, shootings were reportedly common.

Despite its prosperity, Frisco's boom was short-lived. In 1885, a major cave-in at the Horn Silver Mine devastated operations and marked the beginning of the town’s decline. Mining continued in various forms until the early 20th century, but never on the same scale. Over time, people moved away, and Frisco was eventually abandoned.
