The mining functionality in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, is based on a single solution platform. The Microsoft Dynamics 365 architecture allows for multiple Legal Entities, multiple Currencies and multiple Financial, and Stock Dimension. This enables the track of transaction across department, site, business unit, mine activity, contract, and operational asset.
The 360° mining solution has 2 primary pillars. The first pillar is Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP. Dynamics includes all the traditional ERP modules. Out of the box you will find, Finance, Trade, Logistics, Stock Management, Warehouse Management, Project Accounting, Fixed Assets, and Human Resource Management.
The second pillar include all the mining industry vertical modules from Purple Window.
Optimizing the life, and controlling the cost of core capital assets, are central to an asset management strategy. The Advanced Asset Management Module is used to manage asset availability and utilization, while maximizing revenue. More than 20 asset KPIs are managed and reported on.

The Maintenance Management module caters for all maintenance strategies and include, corrective, preventative, predictive and condition-based maintenance. Comprehensive multi meter maintenance forecasting is standard. It is possible to directly capitalise maintenance cost to an asset, or invoice costs back to a customer.

The Warranty Management module is used for the tracking of inbound and outbound warranties. The module allows for, Serial Item Controlled, Stock Item Controlled and Part Number Controlled warranties. A comprehensive warranty claim register is available. This is used for tracking claims, repairs, returns and credit notes.

Documentation and permits are a building block for mine safety. The Permit Management Module is used for the tracking of any type of permit or document expiry date. Permit types included items such as driver licenses, site permits to work, or lockout permits, and on-the road permits for assets. An integrated workflow controls the approval and release of permits.

The HSE module, manage and track all site incidents, safety, environmental, and health inspections. Incident investigation and reporting, the allocation of task teams and resolution definitions are all managed via workflow. The embedded Risk functionality allows for the tracking and mitigation of risks based on a client defined risk matrix.

The Fleet & Contract Management module facilitates operational asset allocation to daily work activities. The module is used to track asset production, driver allocation, and fuel usage. The integrated contract functionality can be used for cross legal entity rental billing, and, to bill customers according to contract. Billing can be for asset usage, BCM mined, or meters drilled.

Tires is a key cost driver for mines. The Tire Management module allows for the tracking of tires by serial number. It is possible to record tire usage, thread depth, temperature, and pressure. The solution includes tire current value calculation based on usage, as well as variance calculations between tires fitted to the same operational asset. Multi-tires can be inspected on a single inspection Job Card.

The Drilling Operations management module is used to plan and track drilling activity. Drilling rigs allocated to a specific site can be allocated to planned activities ate the site. All drilling paraments such as crew, up and down-time, meters drilled, and consumables used, are recorded. It tracks input and output per shift.

The Mining Project Operations functionality is used for tracking operational asset usage and delivery within projects. All operational and maintenance costs can be posted into the project structure.
The payroll module caters for all requirements a mine needs to operate, manage, and, pay its workforce. The module can be configured to cater for different tax rules in different countries.
Taking technology into the field can be complex but does offer many benefits. The objective is to enable mobile teams. Through Tablet and Smart Phone Applications, data can be recorded much earlier in the daily operations process. The planning office can plan Job Cards and allocate these to a mobile user. The mobile user will receive the Job Cards on the mobile device, perform inspections and allocated activities, place stock requests, feedback stock usage, capture pre and post pictures, as well as signatures. This functionality can work in online and offline mode.
