@Bandit_Prospecting and I returned for one final push on "Secret Creek" to work an area that proved productive on our last visit. We were not disappointed. I was excavating above a clay layer in a previous excavation, and I noticed gravel kept filling my hole. It turns out that there's a thick gravel layer (I never found the bottom) BELOW the clay, and it's packed with gold, as well as lead shot and other artifacts. So the clay must have been deposited in fairly recent times.
