Ancient Burnishing Tool: Recycling in the Past

An ancient example of recycling? This broken piece of old pottery was shaped into a tool and used to shape new pottery at the ancient city of Lagash until it was eventually lost. We found it 4500 years later in our latest season of excavations. Here I talk about it with the assistance of Sara Pizzimenti, professor at the University of Pisa, specialist in ancient pottery, and co-field director of the Lagash Archaeological Project.
